Kharkiv renames four streets and lanes in Honor of Ukrainian Heroes: updated on the Visicom Map

On June 3, during an extraordinary session, the Kharkiv City Council approved the renaming of three streets and one lane in different districts of the city.

The new names were adopted as part of Ukraine's ongoing decolonization efforts and to commemorate distinguished Ukrainian defenders and cultural figures.

The new street names are already available on the Visicom Map

Changes to city infrastructure require timely updates to navigation data. The Visicom cartography team promptly incorporated the new street names into the digital map of Kharkiv, ensuring that residents, businesses, and navigation services can immediately use the updated addresses for route planning and location search.

Streets renamed in honor of Ukrainian Heroes and Cultural Figures

The City Council's decision commemorates prominent military personnel and cultural leaders:

• Vladyslav Rykov Street (formerly Litakova Street) was named in honor of Hero of Ukraine (posthumously), Colonel Vladyslav Rykov, a military pilot of the 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force and a graduate of the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.
• Denys Shevchenko Street (formerly Sadovoparkova Street) was named after the fallen defender of Ukraine and Hero of Ukraine, Denys Shevchenko.
• Dzhokhar Dudayev Street (formerly Kubanska Street) was renamed in memory of Dzhokhar Dudayev, the first President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.
• Svitlana Oleshko Lane (formerly Oracha Lane) was named in honor of the renowned Ukrainian theatre director, founder, and artistic director of Kharkiv's iconic Arabesky Theatre Studio.

According to the Kharkiv City Council, the process of removing Soviet and Russian place names from the city's toponymy will continue, reflecting Ukraine's historical heritage and modern identity.

The updated street names are now available across Visicom mapping services and can be viewed on the official geoportal at maps.visicom.ua.
