Visicom Maps now supports searching for rivers, lakes, and other water bodies by name

Visicom Maps has expanded its search capabilities with a new feature that allows users to find rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals, and other water bodies by name.

Until now, most digital maps have primarily focused on roads, cities, and other transportation infrastructure, while many water bodies remained unnamed or difficult to locate. The latest Visicom update addresses this by significantly improving the representation and discoverability of Ukraine's hydrographic network.

What's new?

The new functionality provides several practical benefits:

Search by name

Users can now search directly for rivers, lakes, reservoirs, canals, and other named water bodies using the map's search bar.

Intelligent map scaling

At smaller scales, the map displays the country's major waterways, including the Dnipro, Dniester, and Southern Buh rivers. As users zoom in, additional labels appear for smaller rivers, forest lakes, reservoirs, and artificial canals, providing progressively richer geographic detail.

Better support for outdoor activities and local research

The enhanced hydrography layer is valuable for travelers, anglers, environmental professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in local geography, toponymy, or regional history.

Continuous data improvement

Building and maintaining a comprehensive hydrographic database is a long-term process that requires continuous verification and updates.

While the new dataset already provides extensive coverage, we recognize that some inaccuracies and missing information may still exist. We actively refine the data and welcome feedback from users who are familiar with local rivers, lakes, and other water features. Community input helps us make the map more accurate, complete, and useful for everyone.
